The 8th edition of the États Généraux des technologies sans Chrome VI will take place in Courbevoie on January 23 and 24, 2024.
The objective of these conference days will be to review the technological advances in the field of surface treatments providing an alternative to the use of hexavalent chromium salts.
It will also provide an update on the current state of European regulations, which have recently changed from an authorization to a restriction regime.
Thus, the continued use of hexavalent chromium would remain authorized for certain sectors or applications, and manufacturers meeting the conditions of the restriction would have no dossier to submit to ECHA to obtain authorization.
Chromium VI is a chemical substance widely used in surface treatment for its various properties. However, it is classified as CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, and/or toxic for reproduction). This transition concerns all sectors of industry: Aeronautics, Automotive, Railways, Energy, General industry, Luxury industry ...
This is why the search for alternative technologies is essential to safeguard the health and safety of workers, while respecting the environment. The main targets of these alternative technologies are treatments: light alloys, steels, decorative chrome plating of copper alloy, zamak or plastic parts.
During these days, experts in the field will share their knowledge and expertise on technological advances in alternative surface treatments. The challenges of the transition to these alternative technologies will also be discussed, notably in terms of performance, regulatory compliance, ....
