Educational objectives

1. To know the different thermal spraying processes, their applications and properties obtained in order to establish the right choices

2. Present the basic mechanisms of corrosion and the various types of corrosion as well as the main methods to limit and avoid corrosion of metal parts and structures

PROGRAM

1. Electrochemical concepts for corrosion, diagrams and tools to predict corrosion

2. Generalized aqueous corrosion, atmospheric corrosion

3. Localized corrosion (pitting, stress corrosion, under seal, intergranular), galvanic corrosion and preventive methods, other types of corrosion

4. Corrosion protection by means of coatings and surface treatments: overview of possible methods

5. Cathodic and anodic protection

6. Design to limit corrosion

7. Corrosion inhibitors
