1. Understand a functional need

  • Introduction to the causes of failure and customer dissatisfaction

  • Characterize a functional environment

  • Identify the quantities and/or performances to be mastered to meet the functional requirements

  • Build a performance specification

2. Use functional analysis to control the risk of failure

  • Presentation of the method

  • Deployment of the method

    - Define the meta-functions of the part (what should it do?)

    - Establish failure scenarios for these meta-functions

    - Identify the potential causes of failure scenarios

    - Determine the characteristic quantities that drive the causes of failure

    - Analyze compliance gaps between requirements and input data

    - Summary of expectations

    - Choice of the material /TS couple and validation of the choice
