STAINLESS STEELS THEIR TREATMENTS AND APPLICATIONS
On March 24, 2016, some seven participants were gathered at the ICAM premises in Lille for a technical day dedicated to stainless steels, their treatments and applications.
After a very didactic introductory presentation by Professor Delaunois of UMONS on the various stainless steels, we were able to listen to presentations on subjects as diverse as heat treatments of duplex steels, surface treatments for the pharmaceutical industry, PVD coatings and chemical nickel plating of stainless steels, cryogenic applications of austenitic stainless steels and new grades of martensitic steels for hot forming.
The various presentations gave rise to lively discussions from the assembly which continued during the coffee breaks and the meal taken in common.
To close the day, the participants were able to visit the ICAM premises and in particular the workshop and the materials department.
