Processing and finishing : Additive manufacturing parts

  • La Rotonde, INSA LYON, VILLEURBANNE 14 - 16 Avenue des Arts Villeurbanne, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 69100 France (map)

Additive Manufacturing: a strategic asset for industry and the environment

The 5th edition of the "Treatments et Parachèvements des pièces de Fabrication Additive" days will be held in VILLEURBANNE - Espace La Rotonde - on April 1 and 2, 2025. The event, organized byA3TS and France Titane, will once again bring together manufacturers, research laboratories and experts to discuss the contributions of treatments, which are essential to achieving the functional properties required by the specifications of the main principals for metal parts produced by additive manufacturing technologies.

Heat treatments help to improve part strength, reduce porosity and improve fatigue resistance. Surface treatments are critical for correcting surface conditions resulting from processes. These finishing operations are critical, not only for the performance they deliver, but also for the very significant costs - from 20% to 40% - they represent in overall production costs.

Lectures will address cases of parts made from various materials - powder or wire - (stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, etc.), using different FA technologies (LMD, WAAM, Cold Spray, LPBF, CIC, etc.) and for a wide range of applications in various fields: aeronautics, space, naval, energy, nuclear, etc.

The contribution of mature technologies will be addressed in different use cases, and technological solutions that have recently become available or are in the final stages of development will be discussed during these days.

Thecontribution of digital technology and solutions for checking parts after processing will also be on the conference agenda.

Would you like to propose a conference?

You still have a few days to submit your proposal.

Conferences will cover both mature and developing topics , expressing the needs and concerns of customers, proposals from laboratories and research centers, and innovations from applicators.

Conference proposals are invited in the following areas:

  • Finishing heat treatments: what conditions for what result? Functional impact. Alloy metallurgy. Hot isostatic compaction.

  • Surface finishing : Rise to maturity and industrialization. Chemical, electrochemical, plasma or tribofinish treatments. Multi-process finishing range. Compatibility with materials, including corrosion behavior.

  • Digital input : simulation of material removal or phase transformation, digitization of industrial processes

  • Inspection of parts and surfaces after finishing: what new solutions are needed?

The language of the days is French, but conferences in English can be submitted.

Planning :

Closure of call for conferences => January 18, 2025
Acceptance of conferences => January 21, 2025
Final program communication => January 28, 2025
