Elaboration and treatment of castings

An essential technique, foundry remains competitive in many sectors thanks to its dual capability: mass production of complex, robust parts, but also the production of very large single parts. To meet the growing demands of modern industry, the foundry is constantly innovating.
After an introductory lecture on the various manufacturing processes, this day of conferences will highlight the many facets of steel and cast iron casting, covering a variety of topics such as optimizing mechanical properties through special grades, and the challenges of decarbonization in steel production. Heat and surface treatments, combined with advances in non-destructive testing techniques, also play a key role in enhancing part performance and durability.
In the afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to visit the cast-iron foundry facilities of PTP INDUSTRY in Raon-l'Étape. This company excels in the manufacture of small series, prototypes and large single parts.
