The deadlines of the Reach authorizations for the uses of hexavalent chromium salts expire in September 2024. For its 7th edition, the A3TS General Assembly will deal with the state of progress of alternative technologies to Chromium VI, with the main targets being the treatment of light alloys and coated steels.
The applications concerned are the treatment of aluminum parts, the conversion of cadmium, zinc and zinc alloy coatings, the metallization of plastics and the substitution of hexavalent chromium plating processes for decorative and functional applications.
The institutional actors of our professions will describe the path we have taken since September 2017 by providing the most comprehensive update possible. They will give their vision at the date of the congress on the future of authorizations, proposing milestones to mark out the path until September 2024 and beyond. It will also be an opportunity for manufacturers facing this change to give us feedback on the maturity of alternative technologies. Research and transfer centers will also provide information on the latest solutions.
This year will also see the extension of our discussions to the metallization of plastics, processes generating important flows, which are also very strongly impacted by these authorizations.
The floor will be given to customers to find out the timetable and their perception of the deployment of new technologies and the cessation of processes using chromium VI.
