MT03 - Heat treatment of additive manufacturing metal parts

Inter-company course

New

Educational objectives

  1. Understand the specificities of heat treatments on metal parts produced by additive manufacturing

  2. Develop heat treatment strategies taking into account: the material, the process and the intended application

PROGRAM

1. Reminders: main additive manufacturing processes for metal parts and specificities of the parts produced

2. Needs and challenges of heat treatments for additive manufacturing of metal alloy parts

  • Internal stresses, microstructure and defectology.

3. The main types of thermal and thermomechanical treatments for additive manufacturing parts

4. Defects, faults and possible precautions

  • Deformations, local heterogeneities...

5. Adaptation of heat treatments according to the manufacturing process, the alloy and the intended application.

  • Typical properties of the parts after heat treatment.

6. Discussion: issues and challenges for innovative heat treatments on parts made by additive manufacturing

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The training is mainly focused on 3 types of alloys: Titanium base, Nickel base and Aluminium base.
To deepen your knowledge, we propose you to create a training course using other modules of the catalog.
