CS09 - Thermal Spray Techniques Applied to Mechanical Parts
Inter-company and intra-company courses
New
Educational objectives
To know the different thermal spraying processes, their applications and properties obtained in order to establish the right choices
PROGRAM
1. Introduction, status of thermal spraying techniques in the treatment of metal surfaces
Surface degradation and characterization of wear modes
The process of surface metallization by thermal projection of material
Surface preparation
Projectable materials
Properties of various materials
The different means used in thermal spraying (Powder, wire, flame, arc, blown plasma, HVOF, HP/HVOF, HVAF, HFPD, Cold Spray)
2. The coating process
Function-concept-coating and deposit mode
The mechanical and tribological characteristics of a material projected with different means
Example of a coating definition (FCR) in the case of application in the oil and gas industries
Industrial applications (aeronautics, oil and gas, steel, paper, food, plastics, glass)
Parachuting after thermal spraying
Elaboration of a matrix for the choice of coating
Discussion and examination of concrete cases posed by the trainees
