The SVTM exhibition, organized jointly with the SFV, the French Vacuum Society, which federates equipment and service suppliers for laboratories and industrialists operating vacuum or low pressure processes, brought together more than 80 exhibitors in the Parc Chanot, in parallel with the A3TS congress and the EVC 2021 conference - European Vacuum Congress.

Visitors and attendees were able to renew direct contact with suppliers of products and services, as well as with the laboratories and technical centers present.

THE FORUM

Several animations on the forum gave rhythm to these two days!

Stéphane MAGANA, Managing Director of TEAM HENRI-FABRE, a shared innovation cluster dedicated to the industries of the future, presented the strategy and lines of action of this industrial association. TEAM Henri-Fabre is also a Techocentre, the INOVSYS platform, with a FUTURE COATINGS platform, a CARACTERIZATION and COMPOSITE platform, and a FORMING, ASSEMBLING and ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING platform.

THE INNOVATION AWARD

The A3TS Innovation Award was given to AIR PRODUCTS which presented the "SMART LANCE Nitrogen Methanol" designed to assist operators in the control of atmospheric cementation: the atmosphere of the furnace is thus continuously optimized and costs controlled.

ROUND TABLES

During a round table discussion on "What energy(s) for tomorrow's transport", Gildas BUREAU (STELLANTIS), Olivier DELCOURT (SAFRAN), Jean-Michel DIAZ (TOTAL ENERGIES) and Nathanaël SUEUR (AIR LIQUIDE) debated the roles that electricity, hydrogen and biofuels will be called upon to play in the near future in order to achieve the objectives of decarbonization of transport. In conclusion, a convergence of views emerged, combining accelerated development of electric vehicles, decarbonized hydrogen for heavy transport and intensive use vehicle fleets, biofuels for air transport and the continuation of energy efficiency improvement programs.

On the second day, a round table on "Industrial challenges for heat treatment and surface treatment"brought together the leaders of the main heat treatment and surface treatment groups and the general delegate of the UITS professional union. They discussed the challenges that characterize their industries, which are closely linked to the major transport sectors. Numerous subjects were discussed: the changing markets, the difficulties in sourcing certain jobs, the integration of the low-C policies of the principals, the contribution of digital technologies, the relationship between the principals and the caterers...

UITS TROPHY

The UITS trophy is a competition organized every two years by the Union of Surface Treatment Industries(UITS : http://www.uits-france.org/). Its objective is to highlight the know-how in processes, materials and surface treatments of the various French training courses in this field and it is addressed to all schools providing training in surface technologies. The theme this year was "historical monuments" and the competition took place on November 24 and 25 at the 47th Congress of Heat Treatment and Surface Treatment and the Vacuum and Materials Treatment Exhibition 2021 in Marseille.

Congratulations to the 4 students of the Materials speciality of the ENSIL-ENSCI school of Limoges who won the 1st prize for their trophy representing the Limoges train station and the Louvre pyramid. The latter was printed in polymer (from a scan made at the IUT GMP) and partially covered with paint or metallic coatings. The pyramid is made of triangles in different metal alloys that were cut by laser and either anodized or coated. Different shades were chosen, from silver to gold to brown to blue/purple. Numerous processes were used and the surface preparations were adapted to each substrate and special attention was paid to the use of low environmental impact solutions such as cyanide-free silvering.
