The event of October 4 and 5, 2022, which is part of the five-yearly events targeting metallic materials and hydrogen and organized since 2010 by the Ile de France section of A3TS, brought together more than 120 delegates in the beautiful premises of ASIEM.

Teachers-researchers, industrialists from the world of energy, aeronautics, automobile, surface treatment, etc., and legal experts, followed a rich program of 24 conferences, divided into 4 themes: "Damage to metallic materials caused by hydrogen", "Problems and solutions of surface treatments", "Working with pressurized hydrogen" and "Producing, transporting and using hydrogen".

The objective was to share the approaches of each of the participants to the numerous problems that hydrogen can pose in structural and stainless steels, nickel-based superalloys and aluminum alloys (A. Oudriss, F. Vucko, C. Blanc). The work under H2S (A. Le Guellaut), the stress corrosion of structures (L. Gaillet), the manufacture of massive forged and treated parts for the nuclear industry (JG. Sezgin, A. Bochot), the transport, storage and manufacture of hydrogen (L. Bustamante Valancia, J. Furtado, G. Benoit, D. Guedes, C. Mendibide), "barrier" layers (F. Delloro, A. Alhussein), hydrogen embrittlement in bolting (S. Hahn, A. Fleurentin, S. Brahimi, L. Baissac) and the characterization means available in France when tackling hydrogen challenges (F. Martin, G. Henaff, PF. Cardey)

As we have seen, there are still a lot of studies to be launched and reflections to be conducted on the ambitious subject of the cohabitation of hydrogen and metallic materials. It is by pooling our skills, our thoughts and our test benches that we will prepare the hydrogenated world of tomorrow!
