Educational objectives

  1. Differentiate between forms of corrosion

  2. Interpret failure analysis on corroded parts

PROGRAM

1. General

  • Economic impact of the corrosion phenomenon

  • Presentation of the different forms of corrosion

  • Impact of the nature of the material on the possible corrosion modes

2. Practice of corrosion failure analysis

  • Description of the methodology to adopt during a corrosion failure analysis - precautions to take

    - Investigative means for analysis:

    - optical and electronic microscopy

    - chemical analysis

    - mechanical testing

    - X-ray diffraction

  • Visit of Cetim's investigation means

  • Importance and brief methodology of the literature search

3. Study of concrete cases

  • Analysis of corrosion failures on real parts in groups of three or four participants from a complete expertise file
