CT07 - Vacuum brazing

Inter-company and intra-company courses

98% satisfaction

Educational objectives

To know the conditions of assembly by brazing implemented in vacuum furnaces and the performances which result from it. Vacuum brazing is mainly applied to the assembly of stainless steels, superalloys and aluminum alloys.

PROGRAM

1. Day 1

  • Introduction: definition, comparison, brazed parts: diversity - design, why brazing?

  • The formation of the brazed joint: definition of the criteria which influence the brazing: wettability - clearance - capillarity.

  • Brazing implementation: brazed joint design, filler metal selection, surface preparation, vacuum brazing cycle.

  • Controls of brazed joints: brazing defects, non-destructive controls, destructive controls, metallographic characterizations, meb and eds analyses.

  • Case studies: examples of applications and different types of links. Concrete cases proposed by the trainees.

2. Day 2

  • The vacuum furnace: principle, vacuum technique, vacuum heating and pyrometry, auxiliary supply circuit (water, gas).

  • Project study – risk management: project management, filler metal, brazed joint design (tolerance, design), material properties, technical difficulties and remedies (development and shaping – metallurgy and heat treatment – thermal expansion), holding tools (materials and techniques, risks).

  • Project implementation: reception and assembly, thermal cycle, non-destructive testing, soldering retouching.
