M40 - Overview of material and structural fatigue

To take into account the fatigue phenomena from the design of its parts, according to the materials used and their conditions of implementation.

Inter-company course

Educational objectives

  1. Explain the phenomena of fatigue failure

  2. Analyze fatigue test results

  3. Identify factors affecting fatigue resistance

  4. Evaluate the fatigue life of mechanical parts under cyclic loading

PROGRAM

1. The fatigue phenomenon

Definition, terminology, initiation and propagation mechanism of a fatigue crack, interpretation of fatigue diagrams

2. Exploitation of test results

Type of tests and analysis of results, low cycle fatigue, key points of a standard.

3. Design and sizing

Influencing factors:
- metallurgical parameters, geometrical parameters, mechanical parameters, environment.

Application exercise: calculation of a stepped tree.

4. Morphology of the fractured facies

Methodology Fault analysis (ADE), fatigue failure, exercise

5. Methodology in the general case of solicitations

Multiaxial dimensioning, variable amplitude dimensioning, finite element approach

6. Sizing of rotating parts

Gears, bearings

7. Fatigue of composites

Generalities, characterization of fatigue, influencing parameters

8. Fatigue of assemblies

Screwed assemblies, glued assemblies, welded assemblies
