CS11 - To know and use compatible chemical conversion processes

Inter-company course

New

Educational objectives

To provide knowledge on conversion treatments applied to aluminum alloys in the context of compliance with REACH regulations in order to replace chromic conversions

PROGRAM

1. Reminders on the different types of aluminium alloys concerned and their treatment problems according to the applications (paints, electrical conductivity...)

  • Surface preparation by degreasing, chemical and mechanical stripping

  • Principle of the conversion

  • Characteristics of chromic conversion coatings

  • Finishing treatments (with and without paint)

  • Conversion treatments intended to replace chromic conversions (Chromium III / Zirconium; Chromium III / Zirconium+ post treatment; Chromium free -; Sol-gels)

2. Realization of specimens with conversion without Chrome VI

  • Characterization of the treatments carried out and definition of the defects that may be encountered (Appearance - Defects after exposure to salt spray - Paint adhesion).
