RETURN ON EVENT: svtm 2022 trade show, June 8 and 9 - nantes, france
On June 8 and 9, 2022, more than 80 exhibiting companies, specialized in heat treatment of metals and surface treatments, coatings and functionalization, met in Nantes during the Vacuum and Materials Treatment Exhibition (SVTM).
This major event, co-organized with the Société Française du Vide (SFV), brought together principals, industrial specifiers from the automotive, aerospace and transportation industries, manufacturers of mechanical systems and components, industrial service providers, metallurgy manufacturers, teachers and researchers in the field of materials.

ROUND TABLES
Wednesday, June 8: HYDROGEN sector: What are the stakes for materials and treatments?
Moderated by Pierre BRUCHET (A3TS), it brought together representatives of laboratories and industry: Roland HEQUET (JOHN COCKERILL), Manuel BIANCO (SYMBIO), Loic BUFFET (AIRBUS), Gouenou GIRADIN (CETIM) and Thomas PANNELIER (IRT Jules Verne).
The industrial programs relating to the large-scale production of electrolyzers (John Cockerill) to meet the growing demand for "green" or "low-carbon" hydrogen, depending on the origin of the electricity, the production of fuel cells (Symbio) for use in vehicles, and the design of liquid hydrogen tanks (Airbus) for the development of zero-emission hydrogen aircraft were discussed. The technological options likely to meet the objectives of competitiveness, safety, industrial reliability and sustainability were discussed. CETIM recalled its strategy of accompanying industrialists, particularly with regard to material compatibility with hydrogen, while IRT Jules Verne emphasized its cross-field innovation strategy, illustrated by projects to develop hydrogen storage, both liquid and compressed gas, with a concern for integration into spaces with very specific shapes. In all these programs, the speakers stressed the importance of collaboration between designers/contractors, manufacturers and subcontractors, who are called upon to interact together and make proposals.
Thursday, June 9: Industrialists' expectations of manufacturers of heat treatment facilities to meet current challenges (Energy, Data...)
A round table on the theme of the needs of industrialists in terms of treatment facilities: heat treatment furnaces, surface treatment lines, etc., to meet the challenges of energy, process management and data processing took place in the exhibition forum, bringing together:
Yvan TROUILLOT (ECM TECHNOLOGIES), Thierry BATAILLE (CMI-SLETI), Roger GAUTHIER (AALBERTS S.T.), David MERCS (LISI Automotive) and Thomas DOPLER (AICHELIN Group).
THE A3TS 2022 INNOVATION AWARD
The A3TS 2022 Innovation Award was given to BODYCOTE with Tinitron, a process for improving the tribological properties of Titanium.
What is the Tinitron process?
The patented Tinitron process optimizes the tribological performance and wear resistance of Titanium and its alloys. This diffusion treatment ensures an excellent metallurgical bond with its substrate, allowing to tolerate relatively high contact pressures compared to other existing surface treatments.
Tinitron is particularly well suited for surface treatment of complex parts, in large numbers and at a moderate cost for various high value-added industries. In addition, its vacuum processing technique is totally environmentally friendly.
Two other companies had submitted innovation files:
Fluke Process Instruments with SV600 Fixed Acoustic Imager
Meliad with the Repplix portable learning device
THE EXHIBITORS' COCKTAIL
A cocktail party brought together exhibitors and delegates late Wednesday afternoon.
